Getting Involved with HEB ISD! Adopt-A-School Program: The Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD invites you to become our partner in education. Whether you represent a corporation, small business, civic group, church, or if you just want to donate some personal time, you can help us provide a quality education for more than 20,000 students. The mission of the Adopt-A-School program is to create school and community partnerships that positively impact student achievement. Through our Adopt-A-School program, your organization has the opportunity to become a Campus Adopter, and work with one school, or become a District Adopter, and work with multiple schools or the entire district. We believe that when we involve the community through programs like Adopt-A-School, we are increasing the opportunity for success in each student. To become an adopter all you have to do is be able to offer one or more of the following to our schools: • Business Perks or Discounts (special services and/or discounts) • Student Incentives (awards, food coupons, prizes for students) • Fundraising Items/Opportunities (auction items, school spirit nights, event helps) • Mentoring/Teaching (volunteers, speakers, tutors, advisers) • Donations/In-Kind Goods (school supplies, teacher supplies, food, tangible gifts) • Monetary Donations/Grants/Scholarships (sponsorships) To learn more about our Adopt-A-School program, visit our website www.hebisd.edu/Adopters or contact Mariana Royer at [email protected] or 817.399.2038. Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS): The Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD and the HEB Council of PTAs created VIPS in 2001 to recruit and support volunteers who can provide hands-on assistance at our schools. The VIPS objective is to impact student achievement in a positive way, whether directly or indirectly. Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds. They may be members of a group that has adopted a school; grandparents of children in school; or individuals who want to give back to the community. Volunteers can read to students, tutor in a particular subject area, work in the library, or assist with special events. There is almost no end to opportunities in VIPS. All volunteers must pass a background check. (You can begin this process by filling out the online form at the VIPS HourTracker). Once you have passed the background check process, contact Lisa Theisen at [email protected] or 817.399.2039 to schedule an appointment to have a volunteer ID badge made.
