What’s happening
around the district
While studying kinematic equations and projectiles, 9th
grade physics students at Central Junior High designed,
engineered, and constructed mini-catapults made from
refuse lying around the room and plastic spoons.

Ms. Winn’s kindergarten students at Lakewoood Elementary
learned about what science is and about the tools scientists
use. They took a closer look at rocks and shells and mixed
colored water using droppers and graduated cylinders.
They also got to try on safety goggles!
Fourth Grade & Suzuki Strings students performed at the
South Euless Elementary PTA Meeting in September.
Students told the story of the “Star Spangled Banner”and
invited the audience to sing along with “Yankee Doodle” and
“This Land is Your Land”.
In September, ten Harwood Junior High students competed
in the 2015 Bell Helicopter “Mission Possible” STEM
competition. The competition was hosted by Tarrant County
College’s Northwest Campus Center of Excellence for
Aviation, Transportation and Logistics at Alliance Airport.
Students in Ms. Harris’ and Ms. Reyes’ lunch groups at
the Forrest E. Watson campus participated in Red Ribbon
Week by creating anti-drug posters. Staff members voted
based on design, creativity, and slogan; and creators of the
top banners received prizes.
