school district’s legislative agenda and current “hot” educational topics, and study
the legal requirements for running for the board. During the past 5 years there have
been 5 openings on the school board. The 5 people elected have all been graduates
of the Leadership Academy, showing how well the program prepares graduates for
their campaigns.
If you are interested in the Board Ambassador Academy, call the HEB ISD
superintendent’s office at 817-399-2020 to receive more information. The next
Ambassador program will begin in September of 2017; applications must be submitted
by late July. Class size is limited to around 25 participants.
