around the
district
Trinity High School and the JFK School (JFKS) in Berlin have had an exchange program through the German
American Partnership Program (GAPP) for six years. Each year students from JFKS come to Trinity for three
weeks during their Easter break and THS students go to Berlin for three weeks in early June.
This year’s National Technical Honor Society induction ceremony was held at
the Gene A. Buinger Career & Technical Education Academy in April. Career
and technical education teachers nominated student candidates and provided
leadership opportunities which allowed students to be eligible for NTHS.
Students in Ms. Lemons’ 1st grade class from Bell Manor Elementary wanted to
show their appreciation for the Bedford Police Department. They created a handdrawn book with 21 ways that the department helps the community.
In early May, HEB ISD established a sister-school relationship with a group of
schools in Morocco that will allow future students to participate in exchange
programs and learn about each other’s culture. Both HEB ISD and Al-Madina
Schools participate in International Baccalaureate programs.

The L.D. Bell Lady Raider gymnastics team won the 2016 Texas High School
Gymnastics Coaches Association State Championships. This was the 20th
girls team title for Bell. Junior Alexis Martin was the state floor champion and
the all around runner up by 0.10.
The BCTEA Honors Aerospace Engineering students launched their first rocket
on May 14 at Stewart’s Hillview Ranch located in Fredericksburg, Texas. Students
from 40 Texas high schools launched 80 rockets during the “ROCKETS 2016”
four-day event.
