Bellaire Elementary
Hundreds of people from Bellaire families showed up for a “ Reading under the Stars ” Family Literacy Night . Students were “ over the moon ” to visit their classrooms , share reading strategies with their families , and choose a book to take home .
While enjoying hot chocolate , students settled onto blankets for a night of reading . Flashlights danced around the blacktop as the students read their new book to their parents and siblings . Neighbors had time to visit as their children showed off their reading strategies to each other .
Family Literacy Night gave parents and their children a time and place to promote the love of reading , and equipped them with reading comprehension strategies from Bellaire teachers .
Bedford Junior High
At Bedford Junior High , the entire school campus works together to create success . Teachers , students , and staff work as a team every day to ensure student and campus achievements in all departments and levels at BJH . Bronco students focus on academics , visual and performing arts , career skills , technology , and athletics . With our students ’ drive to succeed , it is important to model an appropriate work / life balance . BJH traditions let students relieve stress and support their school .

Each fall , Principal Martinak rewards hard-working students and faculty with two favorite traditions : the faculty vs . freshmen volleyball and basketball games . In the first game , the ninth grade girls volleyball team battles faculty members for bragging rights for the school year . The second game has both the boys and girls ninth grade basketball teams dueling BJH faculty members . In the end , it is not about who wins ; the focus is on school spirit and reward of BJH ’ s hard work .
