ASK HEB ISD Kids Tulsi Lohani 9 th grader at Harwood Junior High Aisha Mahama-Rodriguez 12 th grader at L.D. Bell High School questions Did you make a New Year’s Resolution? If so, what was it? If not, why not? Yes, to be more positive and have more of a “glass half full” perspective in life. Instead of one BIG resolution I decided to set smaller, more attainable monthly goals. Nixon. I would be very interested to learn how he was able to help connect our nation to China, and to discuss how that impacted our society and economy. I would choose Michelle Obama because she’s extremely intellectual and I feel like I could talk to her about pretty much anything. My 8th grade History teacher Ms. Rolf because she was a wonderful guide. She is very straight-to-the- point and she really helped my understanding of things. My English teacher Ms. Garcia helped me a lot with the IB Program and Ms. Paul was someone who has been there for me since day one of high school. What is the one thing you need to be happy? I think just having a close support system of people. Whether it’s friends or family, it is important to know you always have people on your side. A strong sense of self. My family helps with that by keeping me centered and grounded. Would you rather become a teacher or a principal? Why? Principal. Through my leadership role as Student Council President I have enjoyed learning how to guide a network of people and make a big positive impact. I would be a teacher because I would want to help people find their true passion and show them the stepping stones to achieve their dreams. If you could have dinner with any person in the world from any time period, who would it be? Is there an educator who has made a big impact in your life? 22
