Meadow Creek Elementary is Blooming with STEM

Meadow Creek Elementary students are exploring the concepts and possibilities of science , technology , engineering , and math . This school year , the students have had the chance to learn so much about STEM thanks to the support of staff , parents , and Meadow Creek PTA . An engineer from NASA came to talk about the science of designing space suits , as well as an engineer from Lockheed-Martin Space Systems ( who is a former Meadow Creek student ) visited to discuss the Orion Launch Project . Another former student , currently enrolled at UT as a civil engineering major , taught current students about earthquakes and how they can impact structures .
In addition to learning from industry professionals , students have the opportunity to experience handson learning when they visit the school library .
Using our Maker Space materials , they can build bridges , catapults , and hovercrafts . Students in first grade learned about coding in an after-school class . Students in third and fourth grades joined a STEM club to continue their explorations after school .
At Meadow Creek , students are looking toward the possibilities of the future by learning and investigating today !
