West Hurst Elementary H.E.R.O. t-shirt. All teachers and past H.E.R.O. recipients wear their t-shirts on Road Runner Rally days to create continued acknowledgement. West Hurst Elementary (WHE) has a strong tradition of celebrating our student H.E.R.O.’s who Help, Encourage, and Respect Others. Students are selected for their outstanding demonstration of HEB ISD’s guiding principles of exceptional character: respect, courage, honesty, responsibility, compassion, self-control, commitment, initiative, cooperation, and perseverance. Each six weeks focuses on a different character trait and staff members across the campus teach, model, and practice the selected trait. At our Road Runner Rally, one student per grade level is selected and recognized for their superior efforts. Each H.E.R.O. receives a certificate, a parent letter, and a coveted Creating success and developing good citizenship is strengthened through recognition, celebration, and relationships. PreK Stonegate Elementary • Greeting each other with high-fives and handshakes • Disengaging stress through breathing activities • Connecting by saying our pledges As students pour through the doors of our school each morning we want each and every one of them to know they are welcomed, safe, and that they are a significant part of the Stonegate family. We have incorporated many skills from our Conscious Discipline training to build and foster a very positive school culture and environment. We begin each morning in the gym with our Stonegate Huddle. Teachers, students and staff gather together to unite by: • Celebrating birthdays and Star Stallions • Making a commitment each day to give 100% towards being our best We dismiss from the Stonegate Huddle and students and teachers hold morning meetings with their class. It is so important that everyone at Stonegate Elementary feels valued, respected, and empowered. We are definitely Better Together! 25
