the snug for the girls
Jessica finds much of her interior design
inspiration from browsing the many flea markets
and antique shops in Lewes. “I love browsing for
pretty crockery and vintage glass,” says Jessica,
who also has a passion for collecting metal Roman
numerals, which can be found dotted around the
house and garden.
With the house now a finished project, Jessica is
pleased with what she has achieved, “I absolutely
love the brand new conversion of what was my
studio. It is now a really useful part of the home
with an office for me, a snug for my girls and an
24
occasional guest bedroom on the mezzanine floor.
I think Kat’s room is definitely the prettiest, but I
love my new thinking room in the new extension.”
It is here that Jessica takes time out from working
on her beautiful oil paintings, a process that she
says simply cannot be rushed. “My paintings can
take many years to make; my personal favourite
took eight years to complete,” she explains. “It is
a slow process of building up and scraping back
layers of paint and then over-glazing with layers
of liquid oils.”
