Inspiration from Happy Mama
Amy Taylor-Kabbaz
hen Amy Taylor-Kabaz stood at the window of the maternity ward holding her
first child she knew right then that she was at her most powerful, as a woman
who had given birth she felt the strongest she had ever been. Unfortunately that
initial feeling was lost. After months of trying her best to be that elusive and mythical
‘perfect mother’, Amy found herself exhausted, fighting a debilitating thyroid condition
and feeling completely overwhelmed. She had built a successful career as a radio
producer working passionately in a fast paced, demanding job that she loved. At
this crisis point, the news producer in her kicked in and she started to methodically
research her condition, emotions and thought processes around being a new mum.
But it wasn’t until her dramatic third pregnancy that she was forced to finally stop,
listen and really change. A conscious step towards forgiveness, permission and self
care allowed Amy to really thrive as a woman, mother and wife. She now shares the
wisdom she garnered in her journey from hectic perfectionist to a self-loving and
