comes to smoothies or shakes;
however, sometimes I'm in
the mood for something a
little lighter and so I turn to
my beloved lúcuma.

Lúcuma powder has
quite a sweet taste with
a hint of caramel and it
is definitely one of my
favorite superfoods
because it can be used
to make so many different
vegan treats.
2 Start off using ½ cup of milk and gradually use more if you
want a thinner smoothie.

I recently made a 'caramel' smoothie bowl
as a post-workout snack and used lúcuma
powder as the main flavor, as well as
mesquite and maca powder to add to the
taste and to give an extra source of natural
energy and a boost of nutrients. Unfortunately,
mesquite powder is extremely difficult to find
in the UK (mine was a gift from a friend who
lives in France) so if you don't have any then
just leave it out - it'll still taste fab! The maca
I use is from Organic Burst and it's honestly
3 I had mine quite thick so I could eat it with a spoon but feel
free to make it a more drinkable smoothie!

What is Lúcuma?
Lúcuma is a subtropical fruit from Peru. On the outside
it’s a bit like a smoothed skinned avocado. On the inside
it’s bright orange like a sweet potato. It’s often referred
to as nature’s caramel for its maple-like flavor. High in
beta carotene, fibre, niacin, zinc, calcium and iron its a
great addition both in flavor and in health.
