The Moon, directly between the Sun and Earth, casts a shadow on our planet. If a person is the dark part of that shadow (the umbra), they’ll see a total eclipse. If they’re in the light part (the penumbra), they’ll see a partial eclipse. 2. According to international time UTC, the solar eclipse will occur on August 21, 2017, and it will be visible mostly in the U.Ss, but also in some other parts of the world (including in Canada and the U.K.). 3. The following shows areas in Canada from which the eclipse could be visible (this is just a partial list – the eclipse will be visible from other parts of the country not listed here as well). Ottawa, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Yukon Territory. 4.
