Course Overview:
This course will provide you with the knowledge required to carry out Authorised Person duties and
responsibilities in order to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations
1989. The course is based on the specific requirements of Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 06-02
Electrical Safety Guidance for Low Voltage Systems.
The course will provide an insight into Low Voltage equipment and the operation and maintenance
of standby power supplies. It will also cover requirements of BS7671 with regards to testing electrical
installations, the roles/duties of personnel and how to monitor work undertaken by contractors. You will be
also be shown how to complete the necessary documentation.
The course is aimed at experienced engineering staff with responsibility for the control, operation or
maintenance of installed low voltage systems and who may be appointed as Authorised Person (Electrical
Low Voltage).
