It’s also about education. Creating access for same-day or next-day care. Rachel Barnhart, MD, is a pediatrician who understands the complex issues facing today’s parents. Born and raised on a farm in Norris City, Illinois, Dr. Barnhart spent most of her childhood outdoors. Winters were busy with school sports and summers meant family time in the country: boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, gardening and camping. Dr. Barnhart attended the University of Evansville for her undergraduate degree. She quickly realized that her true passion was medicine. Dr. Barnhart attended the University of Illinois, Chicago School of Medicine where she participated in the Rural Medical Education (RMED) program. The birth of her first daughter, Savannah, turned Dr. Barnhart’s focus to pediatrics.
