Research Director Gartner’s global Healthcare Research Team This panel made clear that journalists are interested in technology in health but that they have a public interest responsibility to provide a balanced presentation. Key issues for them are privacy and holding patient data. This should always be addressed by health innovators in the stories they share. Some basic principles for communicating successfully listed by the panel include: provide factual & new information, explain tech jargon, provide engaging high resolutution images & multi- media content where possible & always have a spokesperson available. Finally, you should involve a patient/person who can share their perspective and whom the public can identify with, as public opinion influences whether journalists cover a story. 28 Page Healthcare is being transformed by a transition from episodic care to a focus on health and from digitization. Mark’s presentation discussed the con- vergence of these two macro trends and the oppor- tunities to create transformative value at the point of convergence. Sharing his 30 years of experience he talked about the importance of value creation at the intersection of the future of healthcare and digital technology, with the clear conclusion that greater investment is needed in transformative care where these intersect. Especially, when it is likely that the first person to live to be 1000 years old will be born in the next few decades!
