Congenital malformation rates differ between countries
but are generally around 3% of 4 million US annual live
births and are the leading cause of infant mortality in the
United States. About 4% of congenital malformations are
caused by teratogens, agents that can cause abnormalities
in the form or function of a developing fetus. Specific
