This gorge has walls a thousand feet high and is one of the favorite hikes in the park. Hikers are urged to check before their trip for appropriate gear to take or plan to rent in the nearby town of Springdale – especially water-tolerant, rocky riverbed-comfortable shoes. Then, when at the park and before hiking The Narrows, hikers should check with a park ranger to make sure the river’s depth is predicted to be safe during their hike — flash flood risk is monitored and regularly reported by the National Park Service. This photo was taken by Bar member Brian Sparks during his family’s “Great Western Vacation” in July 2011. MAR - APR 2018 | HCBA LAWYER 1
