Continued from page 26 Scionti’s commanding presence in the Veterans Treatment Court is changing the lives of many Hillsborough County veterans, not just by helping them resolve their criminal cases, but by empowering them to become more productive members of society. Our experiences so far make it apparent that the HCBA is deliberately sowing seeds that will yield potent leaders. The various modules have taught us about a variety of ways to stand at the helm, each of which has been demonstrably successful. The BLI’s value is tremendous. It has given us an avenue to get to know our fellow compatriots — other similarly motivated future leaders. It has also given us the tools to figure out how we can draw on our commonalities and, perhaps more importantly, our apparent differences, to enhance the quality of our profession. And based on our collective experiences thus far — the bonds that we have formed and the lessons we have learned from one another — it is safe to say that the BLI is successfully paving the road for an even more diverse, more representative Bar leadership of tomorrow.
