Wills for Veterans Event
on november 13, 2017, and in the spirit of veterans Day, hCba’s
Military and veterans affairs Committee hosted a wills for veterans
event at the Chester ferguson Law Center with the federal bar
association tampa bay Chapter. the volunteer attorneys, paralegals,
and law students — many of whom were military veterans
themselves — were able to provide free basic estate planning
documents for local military veterans and spouses.
veterans of the army, navy, Marines, and air force — whose
ages ranged from early 30s to late 70s — received new wills,
durable powers of attorney and healthcare advance directives at
the event. the wills for veterans program provided what equated
to over $10,000 of free legal services to the attendees. a great end
to a veterans Day weekend and a great opportunity for our local
volunteer bar associations to give back to those who have sacrificed
for this great country.
