Mrs. Towers: It has been a great start to the school year. We finished our first Creative Curriculum unit on Beginning the Year and have been taking about apples, pumpkins, and fall in the classroom. We started our firefighter visits and will have several more throughout the school year. It is a great opportunity for children to learn about fire safety. At the end of October we will have our annual “pumpkin patch” in school field trip. Your child will have an opportunity to pick out and bring home a small pumpkin from our “patch.” In November, we will be starting our Creative Curriculum unit on Trees. Please practice the weekly Preschool Assessment Framework (PAF) skills sent home with your child and continue to promote independence in their daily activities (i.e. putting on & zipping their own coat and backpack). We go outside every day. Please dress your child in appropriate clothes and shoes for the weather. They do not need snow boots or snow pants on inclement days. If the sidewalks are not shoveled we will not be going outside. If your child is sick please keep them home. Children this age do not have proper hygiene habits and spread germs easily. Mrs. Mazzetta: The preschoolers have made an impressive transition into the new school year. The children are developing important skills to increase their independence in school routines, solve problems and work with others. It is great fun to see the progress our second year preschoolers have made in these areas! Please remember that we try to go outside every day and make sure your child is dressed appropriately (coat, hat, and mittens). We are working to develop gross motor skills and we engage in many movement activities throughout the day. Sneakers are the safest footwear for school. Mrs. Horn: We’ve finished our first few months of school and the children are learning our daily routine! They’ve been busy exploring and learning how to interact cooperatively with their peers.
