BIRTHDAY/CLASSROOM CELEBRATION POLICY Everyone loves to celebrate a birthday. Birthdays are fun in elementary school. Please note the following:  All Birthday celebrations must be approved by your child’s teacher at least one week before the celebration. Send a note or contact your child‘s teacher before bringing in a special treat for your child and their friends to share. This way everyone stays happy and healthy.  Some of our children are allergic to certain ingredients (i.e. peanuts) found in the treats sent in. Please, no nut products. We recommend a healthy treat (see suggested food choices listed below.) State guidelines prohibit food of minimal nutritional value. To comply with a federal mandate, the Board of Education has adopted a policy addressing student Wellness and Nutrition. The policy is based on the Federal Government‘s new nutritional standards that were created to promote and protect children‘s health. The policy impacts what can be served in school. The administration has worked with the PTA to select foods that meet the nutritionals standards. All treats must be approved by the school nurse.
