BECAUSE OF YOU... Dreams can come true For some medically fragile patients at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children, the dream of attending their school’s prom is not possible. Staff and volunteers came together with generous vendors and companies from the community to create a full-scale version of prom in the hospital, complete with deejay, picture taking, formal wear and more. Friends and family joined patients in a safe setting for a fun and unforgettable experience. Dr. Justin Young, Sports Medicine faculty at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, serves as a sports medicine physician at the Straub Bone & Joint Center and a team physician for the UH Mānoa Athletics Department. Dr. Young is directly involved with providing and coordinating care for student athletes through the UH JABSOM Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. Donors help to support Straub’s Bone & Joint Center. Hawai‘i’s college athletes are ahead of the game Hawai‘i Pacific Health has partnered with the University of Hawai‘i’s John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) and Athletics Department to support the UH JABSOM Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program. Hawai‘i Pacific Health works with the University to improve health care services for its varsity intercollegiate student-athletes by offering well-coordinated and comprehensive care across the Hawai‘i Pacific Health system. The partnership also enables Hawai‘i Pacific Health to support physician training and research in the field of sports medicine. 12 13
