Craft Beer Spiegelau Wheat Beer Glass Twin Pack Harts Price: £14.95 Try these… Wheat Beer Halcyon Daze 5% is Gyle 59’s wheat beer and contains 50% malted wheat as well as coriander seeds which we add to the hopback after the boil when the hot wort is steeping the Saaz hops. Light and highly carbonated the beer is hoppier than a German weissbier, for example. With aromas of bubble gum and bananas from the wheat beer yeast, this beer goes well with cured meats such as salami but also pairs well with cakes, fruit salad and ice cream. An aromatic ale brewed using a minimum of 20% wheat malt associated mainly with Germany (weiss beer) and Belgium (witbier) which has the adjuncts of orange curacao and coriander. Sour beers such as Berliner Weisse, lambic and gose are also made with a significant proportion of wheat with the addition of lactic acid to the process which sours the beer Style file Malts - Pale pilsner, wheat, Vienna and dark malts. Hops - Noble hops with subtle flavours such as Saaz or Tettnang. Yeast – Ale yeast, some use lactic bacteria or lager yeast. Adjuncts – Orange peel, coriander, rye, spelt. ABV – 4 – 6%, more if aiming for an imperial wheat. Glass – Half pint stem glass such as a tulip, or slender pint edge hi-ball head booster Food match – Cured meats, eggs, seafood, goats cheese, fruit salad, roasted aubergine, almond cake. Dartington Brew Craft Pilsner Lager Harts Price: £14.40 Our imperial wheat beer called Pushing 10 (9.5%) was a collaborative brew made with Brew Shack from Wimborne. To achieve the strength that the brewers were after the mash tun was pushed to its limit and the beer was boiled for three times longer that usual. The result is an exceptionally full-bodied brew with Noble Tettnang and First Gold hops combining to give a gentle and smooth bitterness. Fragrant orange and floral notes make this a beer to savour in front of a roaring fire. Serve in a chalice style glass to encourage sipping or lay it down to enjoy at a future date. Lager Lager in German (meaning storeroom or warehouse) is brewed differently to ales, as lagers are cold fermented with a bottom-fermenting yeast. This can take several weeks, and the resulting beer will develop different flavours than a yeast fermented at a higher temperature. Lager is then cold stored for a minimum of 6 – 12 weeks before it is considered ready to drink. Lager can be pale, amber or dark and is usually hopped with Saaz which gives a subtle bitterness and high aroma. Style file Malts - Pale pilsner, lager malt, Vienna and crystal malts. Hops - Moderate bitterness and aroma, craft lagers are often dry hopped with new-world hops. Yeast –Lager yeast and cold fermentation. ABV – 4.5% – 6% Glass – Half pint stem glass such as a tulip, or pilsner glass. Food match – Brie, bread, pizza, smoked sausage, macaroni cheese. Try these… Gyle 59’s Vienna Session Lager 4.2% is a golden lager that has a honeyed aroma and taste with bready flavours from the malts used. It is dry hopped with Cascade hops and lagered for an average of three months. Full of flavour, this lager is our best draught seller at Cellar 59 - I call it honey on toast!
