Take your food preparation
in hand with a more slender
blender that has established
itself as a kitchen essential
for home cooks and pro
chefs alike
ometimes the best tool for
the job is the one that’s
closest to hand. So while a
countertop blender, food
processor or stand mixer will give
arguably better results, the sheer
speed and convenience of a hand
(or immersion) blender make
them one of the essential kitchen
gadgets.
The hand blender can do
some of the same work as its
full-size kitchen compatriots but
is so much smaller, lighter and
easier to store. Vitally, it’s also
possible to get out and up and
running quickly, so that we find
its probably one of our most used
kitchen gadget.
Whether plunging it into soup
to puree it in the pot, blitzing
a handful of basil leaves into a
quick pesto, or an avocado into
guacamole or making a smoothie
or milkshake in the glass, we
wouldn’t be without one. In fact,
we couldn’t be without one.
Who has the time to unbox
and set up a big mixer when you
can just sink a hand blender into
your pan and liquefy with a few
presses of a button? They are a lot
easier to clean too.
Talk to any dedicated cook and
many professional chefs and they
will speak fondly of their hand
blender. So it makes sense to
get a decent one, whatever your
budget. There are cheaper models
with fewer functions that will be
fine for occasional use or look to
the higher end models if you want
smoother results and heavier use.
