ver since William Bourne discovered the seam of iron-rich clay behind what is now Denby’s
pottery and home on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire, the mantra of the brand has
been to create products which are “designed for living and made to last.”
The strength of Denby’s stoneware is renowned – you can stand a double-decker bus on
four upturned Denby mugs – and, perhaps more usefully, its stoneware products can be
used in the oven, dishwasher, microwave and freezer quite happily. These ‘made to last’
credentials have been part of the brand’s appeal spanning two centuries, but it’s perhaps the way the
brand has always strived to meet the nee ds of consumers in each particular era which has shaped its
position today as one of the UK’s leading premium casual tableware brands.
