his year is a momentous one for Harts of Stur, as it is our Centenary year.
Throughout 2019 we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of our
founding as a family business and have lots of exciting plans to share
with you.
As you are probably well aware, family is extremely important to us. This is why we
have chosen to celebrate our centenary with a selection of family-themed events. Our
first theme is the Great British Breakfast! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
There’s nothing like sitting down with the family to a good breakfast at home, on holiday or just at
the local cafe. With many health professionals recommending that breakfast is the most important meal
of the day, the old adage ‘breakfast like a king’ has never felt so relevant.
As you will see, the theme of this magazine is dedicated to breakfast - from tasty recipes to the best bits
of kitchen kit to kick-start your morning. Future themes include Barbecues & Outdoor Entertaining and
Roast Dinners. These will be showcased in the next two editions of Kitchen. In-store events for each of
these themes will feature a launch day with dedicated centenary displays. The Great British Breakfast
event will feature plenty of coffee and bacon butties for all plus demonstrations, special offers and local
food suppliers. Keep an eye out for all the latest news via our social media channels. Our website will also
feature a dedicated 100th anniversary page showing all the best kitchen kit for each anniversary theme.
Finally, if you have any memories, stories or photos of our shop from days gone by we’d love to hear
from you.
Bigger, Better, Best
2019 also marks the start of a major redevelopment of our store. If you’ve visited us recently you may
have noticed some preliminary work has already been carried out. Our trade counter and DIY area have
been expanded and modernised and the clothing department has also expanded. But the main bulk of
work is about to begin. In a phased programme of work this multi-million-pound project will involve
creating an additional 20,000 sq.ft.of retail space. The garden shop will be amalgamated into the main
store allowing the old site to be levelled creating additional, and much needed, parking space. The
exterior of the store will get a facelift and additional office space created. It’s a very exciting time for all.
