Criminal Investigation Division
Area Detective unit
Sgt. Israel Dominguez leads the Area Detective Unit which investigates
crimes against persons such as simple assaults, harassment, and miss-
ing person cases. The unit also investigates crimes against property which
includes burglaries, criminal mischief, and theft. During the past year
the six Area Detectives were assigned over 5000 cases to investigate
with approximately a 44% clearance rate. The case preparation func-
tion is also performed by this unit and in 2017 submitted 2,320 misde-
meanor cases and 778 felony cases to the District Attorneys Offi ce.
Beatrice Garcia (Bea) is the Crime Victims Liaison who assisted dozens of
victims of violent crime during the year. Her genuine compassion in deal-
ing with victims of crime during these diffi cult times in their lives greatly
contributes to their ability to cope and move on after a traumatic event.
