ORIGINS OF THE HUMAN MIND PARKINSON’S EXERCISE PROGRAM
For thousands of years, the human mind has been shrouded in
mystery. Elusive in nature, the subject has prompted an intensive
study of several puzzling questions about what the mind is, what
it's made of, how it works and how it differs from our brains. With
the latest advancements in both our understanding of the brain
and the technology we use to look inside it, scientists and medical
professionals have vastly improved their understanding of the
human mind. PRE-REGIST R AT ION & WELLNESS PACK E T C OMPLE T ION REQUIRED

Studies have shown that exercise produces numerous beneficial
effects on Parkinson’s symptoms, including reducing the severity of
tremor, postural instability, bradykinesia and muscle rigidity. Classes
focus on improving Parkinson’s symptoms in a positive, fun atmosphere,
using chairs, balls, bands and light hand weights. Functional exercises
such as finger dexterity, ball toss, and sit-to-stand are included,
enhancing activities of daily living and reducing risk of injuries. Each
class is led by a certified Parkinson’s exercise specialist, plus an
additional support staff. Participants must complete a Parkinson’s
wellness packet, which includes a medical release to be signed by
their physician before participating. Wellness packets can be picked
up at the Friends of Boca Grande Community Center office (131 First
St. W.) or downloaded online at friendsofbocagrande.org.
