HEALTH 2. Sources of Endocannabinoids The main source of endocannabinoids for our bod- ies is our diet, specifically Omega-3 fatty acids. En- zymes also play a critical role in the ECS, and that’s where non-psychoactive CBD comes in. While psychoactive THC mimics the body’s endo- cannabinoids, CBD increases the amount of endo- cannabinoids in your system. That is why CBD is a natural mood-enhancer when it is not paired with THC’s psychoactive effects. If you don’t want to have the “high” that marijua- na can give you, the good news is that you don’t need psychoactive THC to stimulate the endocan- nabinoid system. Cannabinoids found in industri- al hemp, which does not have THC, will activate the ECS. There are now CBD products made from industrial hemp that are available in all 50 states, even those that have not legalized medical mari- juana. 3. Where Cannabinoids are Taking Us With the burgeoning of the marijuana industry, and the access to medical marijuana in so many states, new research is beginning to reveal just how effec- tive CBD is in improving our health, reducing pain, and balancing our mental and emotional states. The genie is out of the bottle and with more peo- ple experiencing the benefits of better health and less pain through medical marijuana, there’s no putting it back in. MJ Schwader is a published author, writing coach, and healer based in Portland, Or- egon. After years of using CBD for pain management, MJ now promotes better health through the use of CBD oil. If you would like more information about CBD products that are legally available in all 50 states, please contact MJ at mjschwader@icloud. com or through Facebook . 21 | HAPI Guide
