Handmade Seller Magazine Issue 9 | June 2016 | Page 10

In the last few months, we have talked about how you can use a blog to grow your business and how to use video on your blog!

In this month’s article, I’m going to be explaining the idea of guest blogs and how you can use them to sell more crafts.

Let’s get started!

What is a guest blog?

A guest blog is any blog that is written by a contributor to the blog, rather than the blog owner.

There are a variety of benefits to using or contributing to guest blogs. Let’s start by examining why you should write guest posts for other blogs.

Why write guest blogs?

Writing a guest post for someone else’s blog is a great way to build your brand and get more readers to your own blog. In addition, it allows you to build your reputation as an expert in the field of DIY and handmade crafts.

Guest blogs also help to raise your profile and help your website get found easier on search engines like Google and Bing, which uses social signals such as likes, retweets, and backlinks to see if your page is relevant to the keywords users are searching!

Don’t worry if that last bit got a little too technical for you, the important thing to remember is that writing guest blogs gets you more attention, prestige, and readers!

How do you write a guest blog?

The first step is to find a few blogs that are related to your own.

Here're a few DIY craft blogs that have large audiences and use frequent guest posts:

1. Vintage Revivals

2. Homey Oh My

3. Almost Makes Perfect

4. Art Bar Blog

5. The House That Lars Built
