While Canva provides a large collection of beautiful templates, I recommend creating your own designs, or at least slightly alter already existing ones to maintain an authentic, cohesive brand look. Once you’ve created a few templates of your own, you can easily copy and paste them to generate a number of different posts.

Remember the editorial calendar with various post categories I showed you in last month’s column? Design a different template for each category to create direction and repetition in your feed.

While there are several smart scheduling tools available online, my favorite is a classic: the spreadsheet.

Not only are spreadsheets easy to navigate, probably their biggest advantage is that there are a ton of free templates online. A simple Google search yields hundreds of results.

Whether you create your own template, download ours, or look for one online, make sure to add a column for your strategic purpose. Without a clear strategy in mind, your marketing endeavors are less likely to be successful in the long run.
