MacArthur ‘MAC’ GALLOWAY ‘62 (High School Football and Track & Field) McArthur ‘Mac’ Galloway is a legend in Hamilton Park High School Football and Track & Field history. McArthur was born August 10, 1943 and passed August, 2004. He played on the Bobcat Football Team from 1956 to 1960. He wore number 14 and played right halfback (All-District and All-State) and Nose-Guard on Defense at 5’9”, 165 pounds. His broken-field agility left tacklers grasping at air, and his stamina wore out defensive lines. He ran a record five (5) touchdowns in a number of games and averaged over 25 touchdowns a season. He had marvelous acceleration and a willingness to hit. And for the record he started playing varsity football in the seventh grade. In track & field ‘Mac’ was a one man track team; he would win the 100 yard dash, 220 yard dash and the 180 yard low hurdles in a typical track meet, an astonishing time of 9.4 sec in the 100 yard dash, the Hamilton Park all-time School record. As a sophomore, he qualified for the State Track Meet, placing 1st in the 100 yard dash and 1st in the 180 yards low hurdles.
