BOLD LIPS hot/not FOR ME written by: Kandace Campbell I have always been more of the conservative type when it came to lip color--- clear was as far as I’d go. But, I was always bold with my shine. My lips were so clear and glossy that people could see their reflection in them. Mac, C.O Bigelow Spearmint gloss, and almost any clear tube was my best friend. I was so addicted and so good at making my lips clearly sparkle that I could make Carmex shine. Now who do you know that can do that? Ha! This girl right here! Needless to say, I wasn’t very good at selecting colors-way too complicated. I was overwhelmed and was in need of a makeup artist before I went broke. I left the store with five variations of reds and pinks. Red is not my color, at least the one’s I bought didn’t make the cut. I was either too bright, too dark, or reminiscent of a clown or one of those porcelain dolls. But, I didn’t fret, I kept trying because in the end Pink was Hot Hot Hot! I loved it. OMG! However, I started seeing more and more women, (mature and young) wearing a bold colored matte lip, typically some variation of red. I loved it, on them that is. I wasn’t ready yet, but I knew that I wanted to try it. I kicked that clear gloss to the side and became an extra bold and confident lipista. If I needed to go to the grocery store to buy a carton of milk, you’d better believe it was in my Covergirl Bombshell Explosion lipstick number 327. A + Mazing! Bold red lips began popping up on music videos, photo shoots, magazine covers, every where I turned was a kissable bold red lip. I couldn’t help but wonder, how would she eat, drink, lick her lips, kiss without smearing, wouldn’t they dry out, etc. All sorts of mysterious wonders came to mind. ARE HOT 10 So, one day I decided to go out on a Hibachi adventure and invited my girl friend, T. First let me say that she is incredibly gorgeous, a mother of two, and she doesn’t look a day over 21. She has great genes, perfect skin, locks to die for, and on that day, what does she exit the car with…you got it, bold red lips. My immediate reaction was to touch them, I held back. I did tell her that she looked amazing and I secretly wished I could do that. She told me I could. Right there in the Hibachi parking lot, I found my inspiration and took a risk. After our early dinner, I set on a quest to find my new bold lip. I bought reds and a few pinks. So the moral of the story is…When you think it’s “Not for you”, try it any way because you may discover that it’s HOT! Bold Lips ARE Hot. Check out the top pic from my impromptu photo shoot. I call it the “Just Woke Up, Grabbed the First Hat I Saw to Bombshell Explosion LipShoot” , So how did I do? 11
