STORY
Riptide I received for review had a contoured
body with a striking butcher-block appearance
composed of several woods. The centerpiece
is figured Maple flanked by Rosewood, Black
Limba (Korina), and Empress, which collectively
look awe-inspiring and resonate magnificently.
The non-toxic clear finish is hand rubbed giving
it a slight satin finish appearance that lets the
woods natural beauty prevail. Who would want
a paint job on a guitar like this?!
Scoop on the other two models:
‘Shoreline’ reflects the easy-going west coast
lifestyle in looks and flexibility. True to the
California spirit this model features three single
coil pickups, but can be configured to any
type and combination thanks to a unique open
pickguard design. Shoreline sports a top-loading
half-T bridge or can have a modern vibrato with
steel saddles and push-in whammy bar. The
scale length is 25.5”.
Similar to a Les Paul or Melody Maker, ‘Element’
has a slightly spongier feeling 24.75” scale
Mahogany neck, Mahogany body, and Rosewood
fingerboard making a perfect match for a pair
of PAF or P-90 pickups. Guaranteed mid range
punch for serious howl and growl or bring it

VERDICT
Everything about Riptide says comfort and
class. From the contoured body and slim and
easy to play neck with well manicured frets to
the retro looking headstock logo, smokin’ hot TV
Jones pickups, and superb finish/paintjob, this
guitar is ready for a top down test drive along
the coast. Riptide can handle jazz and blues as
well as classic and indie rock without missing a
beat, and would be right at home impersonating
your favorite Dick Dale or Ventures tunes.
