ZEDAN POLO FINDS
CARTIER GOLD IN DUBAI

delighted Amr Zedan, patron
of the Zedan Polo Team and a
long-term supporter of the Cartier
polo event in Dubai, won the 12th edition
of the Cartier International Dubai Polo
Challenge at Ali Albwardy’s Desert Palm
Polo Club last November. The dark blue
shirts defeated Mohammed Al Habtoor’s
Habtoor Polo team 9-6 in a great final
– the perfect conclusion to four days of
competitive, yet friendly rivalry, played
under an unseasonably hot sun in Dubai.

HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein,
wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President
and Prime Minister of the UAE and
Ruler of Dubai and patron of this event
since its inception in 2006, presented
the magnificent trophy to Zedan and
his co-patron, a young Emirati player
Rashid Bin Drai. Cartier’s main VIP
guest, the international model Alessandra
Ambrosio, had earlier awarded Habtoor
Polo’s Santiago Gomez Romero the
La Martina Most Valuable Player
prize, while his patron, Mohammed Al
Habtoor had received the La Martina
Best Playing Pony saddle and rug for
Sasha. This pony had been played by
Habtoor Polo’s Tomas Iriarte in a couple
of chukkas of this final.
Earlier in the day, the home side, Desert
Palm, previous winners of the main Cartier
trophy, had collected the Desert Palm
Trophy. They had beaten the sponsor’s
side Cartier 7-5 in the subsidiary final.
