Teen Leadership Sessions
Counselor-in-Training 1 ( CIT 1 )
Counselors are pretty awesome , right ? Want to be just like your counselors ? This exciting , eight-day program helps CITs develop their skills by learning from experienced staff and then working with campers directly . You ’ ll gain valuable experience in working with children , such as program development , creating great camp culture , and behavior management . CIT 1 is offered at Camp Conshatawba and Camp Hawthorne Ridge . ( CIT 1 is a prerequisite for CIT 2 .)

CIT 2 is offered at both Camp Conshatawba and Camp Hawthorne Ridge . ( Prerequisite : Completion of CIT 1 program at a GSWPA camp .)

Wrangler-in-Training 1 ( WIT 1 )
What better way to spend the summer than to teach younger girls about your favorite topic ? Horses ! You ’ ll shadow horse camp counselors , help wranglers with barn and herd care , share your horse knowledge with participants , and also share time with campers during other classic camp activities . ( WIT 1 is a prerequisite for WIT 2 .)

Wrangler-in-Training 2 ( WIT 2 )
A WIT 2 has the ultimate horse knowledge and appreciation . You must be entering 11th or 12th grade and have successfully completed the WIT 1 program . You must be comfortable around horses and can catch , lead , tie , and saddle for western riding safely and successfully on your own . You must also be able to mount and dismount on your own and ride at a walk , trot , and lope with ease and without fear . As a WIT 2 , you ’ ll take direction from counselors , unit leaders , and administration staff , and can act responsibly under minimal supervision . ( Prerequisite : Completion of WIT 1 program at a GSWPA camp .)

Volunteer-in-Training ( VIT )
Any girl who is registered as a Senior or Ambassador and has completed ninth grade is eligible to earn this award .
Earn this award in the following ways :
1 Find a mentor who is currently the adult volunteer for a group of girls at the level you ’ d like to work with . This volunteer will
help you through your training and internship , and you ’ ll help the volunteer with her group of girls for a 3-6 month period .
2 Complete a council-designed leadership course .
3 Create and implement a thoughtful program based on a Journey or badge that lasts for four or more sessions . Be
responsible for designing , planning , and evaluating the activities . “ Sessions ” can be instances when VIT personally leads a troop activity during a troop meeting , or they can be a combination of a VIT leading activities at a troop meeting and leading younger girls during a major Girl Scout event .
