GSWPA Annual Report 2013-14 | Page 8

A note from our CEO and Board Chair ... Do you remember your first adventure? That first time you were brave and tried something new? The first time you met your childhood best friend? Every day, and in every zip code, Girl Scouts are experiencing exciting, life-changing opportunities. We constantly see the positive impact Girl Scouting has in western Pennsylvania. Whether they’re starting Kindergarten or graduating from high school, they’re learning more about things that spark their interest. Each Girl Scout experience is unique, allowing girls the freedom to explore things that matter to them. But that’s just the beginning. A nature walk that leads to a career in environmental science. A Girl Scout Thinking Day event that starts a lifelong love of travel. The first box of Girl Scout Cookies she sells that begins a desire to own her own business. This Annual Report gives you a glimpse of Girl Scouting’s impact in western Pennsylvania last year. Because of your support, girls have a place to explore the things they love with the help of amazing volunteers. Because of our commitment to girls and volunteers, we’re embarking on a new Customer Engagement Initiative. This investment in technology and service has the potential to bring Girl Scouting to even more girls and support busy volunteers for years to come. Our girls are our future, and if we want them to shine as brightly as we know they can, we need to tell them they matter today. Your support helps to make that happen. Patricia A.
