Barbara Stahl Moulton

Barbara Moulton grew up in Providence and joined Girl Scouting there in 1921 as a member of Troop 21 at the Central Congregational Church. Except for six years away at school and college, she has been active in Girl Scouting ever since.

In the former Providence-Cranston council, she served as an Assistant Leader, then as a Captain of a troop of 64 girls. She became a board member and commissioner. After the formation of the present Girl Scouts of Rhode Island council, she was elected Vice President and then President. She held, during the course of the years, various other volunteer positions such as Neighborhood Chairman, District Chairman, member of the Public Relations Committee and the Finance Committee, and Council Delegate. She was the donor of the Pohopoco Campership Fund.

Hers has always been a Scouting family, one which included her daughter, her son, and later a granddaughter and great granddaughter. At one time or other, her father and husband were also registered with GSUSA for special services.

Why does she continue to enjoy the time she volunteers with Girl Scouting? “I think it’s just one way to contribute to the welfare of mankind.” Barbara has received the GSUSA Thanks Badge.
