For more than sixty years, “Yo” was an active member of Girl Scouting, and during her adult years serve the organization in many capacities. She grew up to be a unit counselor, the Director of Wonderland, then the assistant camp director, and from 1938 through the summer of 1944, she was Hoffman’s camp director.

For most of her adult years, she was a professional Girl Scout worker, serving first as a Field Captain in the Rhode Island Mandate Council. She held executive positions as the first local director of the Newport County Council, as the director of the Providence-Cranston Council, the New Bedford, Massachusetts Council, and as an assistant executive in the Chesapeake Bay Council, Wilmington, Delaware.

In 1969 she retired from the professional ranks, returning to the Newport area where she continued her interest in Girl Scouting and in Camp Hoffman through the Trefoil Club and local Girl Scouting events.

“Yo” is remembered by hundreds of girls and adults in Girl Scouting for her care and concern for the organization and for the individuals in it. She shared her interest in the arts, in music and in stitchery and crafts.
