Helen MacColl, an active and generous Girl Scout for more than half a century, believed that “camping is the heart of Girl Scouting.” Her Girl Scout experience included girl membership, troop leadership, Girl Scout Regional Committee membership, election as a National Council Delegate, and chairmanship of the Camp Hoffman Committee. She served for more than 15 years on the Providence-Cranston Board of Directors as President, Vice President, and Finance Chairman. Following the consolidation of 9 Rhode Island councils, she served on the Board of Girl Scouts of Rhode Island, Inc. for 18 years. The Lodge at Camp Cookie was named in her honor and, among other gifts, she contributed funds for the fieldstone fireplace at Camp Hoffman.
