No limit
to Victory
The Boy’s Tennis team was victori-
ous in taking home the championship
through persistence, support, and
most importantly, through practice.
Their practice led to an unde-
feated season and consisted of
simple warm-ups and concentration
drills.
An important drill they did was
serving and recieving. They shortened
the court and practiced in a smaller
area. The main objective was to pass
the ball to each other with light
forearms and backhands.
The players also worked intense-
ly on target practice, where they
had to hit the ball to specific spots
on the court. This drill helped
increase their hitting accuracy.
Through their hard work, the
results of their persistent effort
were evident in their games.
Coach Evans empha-
sized, “You have to be per-
sistent every day and come
to practice”.
The boys successfully
won a lot of their matches,
but Coach Evans always
reminded them to not
get overconfident, but
practice harder.
“Each player is good
in their own field. Dongin
has a killer serve. Caelan has
aggressiveness, being able to
find and exploit the opponent’s
weaknesses. Christopher is ‘Mr.
Consistent’, he would keep on
playing and keep the ball in the
court. Sam Lee would return all
the balls back to the opponent,”
explained Coach Evans.
However, out of all the members
on the team, the most improved
player everyone talked about was
Christopher Lee.
Christopher Lee was an alternate
for two years but over summer break,
he practiced harder than ever to prove
to Coach Evans and the team he could
play as a singles three player (there are
three divisions for singles one, two, and
three in their respective ranking).
Each player was encouraged through
endless support from their teammates to
work harder. “We are all friends, we play
around and work together as a team to keep
a cheerful mood,” Rikumu Shigeta explained.
The triumphant team did not easily earn the
championship title, but their hard work, per-
sistent practices, and combined effort paid off as
they proudly brought a new banner to the school.
