PEOPLE Everyone benefits from a strong community. Being active within it helps us head to a positive direction -- having more vital and interesting lives, staying healthy, and feeling happier. We feel connected, important, appreciated and safe. Having a great community brings us inspiration and helps us navigate life. However, what we often forget is people make a community great. Each and every one of us is a part of the school community and everyone can make it better. There is no limit to the ways we can contribute to our community. Throughout the year, many of our community members pushed through their own individual limits, diversifying the ways which they contribute to our wonderful commu- nity. Student Council and Frontline members pushed their limits in patience, persever- ance, and optimism in order to create incredible events for the students. Athletes and coaches were challenged to push their limits as they endured injuries, unexpectedly changes in schedules, and personal challenges of being a part of a team. Part of the learning process is learning how to turn stressful situations into motivation. Such a mindset allowed the athletic program to thrive as our sports teams proudly rep- resented the community. Students, especially those in elementary who transitioned to lower secondary, and those in lower secondary who transitioned into upper secondary pushed their limits as they ventured into new environments. One sixth-grade student mentioned that she was “scared” of her surroundings being “new” but having supportive teachers helped her overcome her fear. Furthermore, one ninth-grade student commented he was “ner- vous” entering into high school, overwhelmed by “academic pressure.” However, he pushed his limits in time management in order to deal the increased amount of aca- demic work, ultimately being able to overcome his initial struggles. With such individual efforts, our community was able to take a step forward with more active members. When one person accepts a small challenge, the positive energy from risk-taking benefits everyone. We should always remind ourselves that it is every single one of us who make a community strong. It is the joy from individual journeys that accumulate to bring a community to life. Our community has benefited from so many individual limits being pushed, and we should celebrate such feats. However, there can always be more to what we can achieve. There is no limit to how we can boost this community. 141
