Ryan Yi, Hansol Lee, and Ethan Hur 6 Reflections of the Season: The Boys Soccer team winning the first friendly match of the year against SAHS was a “great win for us” and “it raised our team’s confi- dence.” - Brad Uhm The team won their next friendly match against TCIS which led to a 3 to 0 victory. It helped the players see how well they “fit with each oth- er.” - Hyunho Kim ”Through losing we continually grew stronger, mentally and physically.” - Captain Lucas Lee KAIAC Conference Sixth place pace back and forth between two lines on the soccer field as a part of their stretching routine before practice. Their exercises included high knees, butt kicks, and vineyards. 3. Tobey Lee jumps up into the air to get blood pumping through his legs. Warm-ups are a very important part of practice because it ensures that the players’ bodies are ready for action. 4. Jimmy Yun and Lucas Lee play one-on-one, even in the wet weather. When Lucas stole the ball away from Jimmy’s control, they scrambled to be the first to reach the ball once again 5. Adam Bae and Martin Lee compete to gain possession of the ball during a drill. Adam spread his arms out wide to shield the ball, which is a technique used to prevent a defender from seizing pos- session of the ball. 6. Keito Uchiyama darts back and forth in order to confuse the opposing player. Dribbling is a large focus for each player, since it is a major technique used out on the field. 7. Tobey Lee gets himself ready to dash toward the ball at a moment’s notice. The ready position places the player on the balls of their feet, shifting their weight so they can spring into action at any time. 8. Myeongjae Kim keeps a sharp eye out for any ready teammates to toss the ball to. Once the ball was kicked out of bounds, a strategic free throw was needed to get the ball back into play. 9. Jean Yi shuffles up to the ball, weighing his options right before he kicks the ball. Teamwork and communication were an essential parts of their soccer season, because they had to trust each other to get the ball to them, and vice versa.
