Coach Laroche, Partha Yashraj, Jason Park, and Brad Uhm come together for a team huddle to recollect and refocus the team’s energy for the game. Team huddles allow players a time to get a short rest and encourage each other’s performances. #be_A_team Boys Junior Varsity Volleyball 90 Starting the season with the minimum number of rk Pa JV players, half of whom were on s freshman and new to volleyball, Ja the team put forth maximum effort to establish a hardworking team and a smooth season. Brad Uhm expressed, in order to perform he needed to learn to work with both his teammates and Coach Laroche. He stated communicating and adjusting himself to the team as his biggest struggle. Mr. Laroche quickly realized kindness was the key to success. When he was friendly with them, the team developed respect, and eventually the team bonded. Brad said Coach Laroche “wasn’t very rough with us” and was the type of coach focused more on the com- munication aspect of the team rather than raw performance. Coach Laroche defined his team as “A hard working team.” Brad explain, “from the beginning of the sea- son to the end, everyone improved.” All of the players had put in a great effort in order to be a competitive team for their KAIAC Tournament. Freshman Jason Park agreed with Brad and commented the team fought well from the beginning to the end of each game. He said part of the reason he was motivated to put in a lot of effort was his own personal outlook, “Sure winning is important but volleyball is not all about Fall Sports and Activities that. What is important is team effort and how much you’ve improved.” Coach Laroche said the boy's hard work paid off during their game against SIS at the KAIAC Tournament. “We lost twice against SIS during the season, but at the KAIAC Tourna- ment we won the first set and the sec- ond set against them.” Eventually the boys lost 14 to 16, but according to Mr. Laroche the boys showed “big improvement” which was invaluable. The boys finished fourth in the KAIAC Tournament. Considering the team consisted of mostly new students, this is quite the feat.
