Receiving the ball requires the player to always stay on their toes while maintaining constant focus. 2. During a tennis match against OAHS, Jade Hughes walks toward the net to hand over the ball to the next server. The varsity girls tennis team brought home a banner for placing first in conference. 3. Leslie Lee positions herself to swing a backhand. Successful backhand swings require a lot of strength and grip of the racket. 4. Jaipriya Gupta and Leslie Lee kick out their legs and walk across the width of the tennis court at the start of practice. This was the first season for Jaipriya, a senior, and Leslie, a freshmen. 5. Diana Kim and Jaipriya Gupta get ready to warm up their serves. Both players warmed their shoulders prior to this exercise and hit consistent serves. 6. Jade Hughes, a first singles player, speaks with coach Muus to main- tain focus and stay calm under pressure. Jade Hughes won an amazing streak of five rallies against her opponent from OAHS. This was her second season playing tennis. 7. Sae Takeuchi, sophomore, shares some laughs with her teammates by pulling her sweatshirt on top of her head during practice. This was Sae Takeuchi’s second year playing tennis. 8. Coach Muus reached her right arm over her head while standing on the benches. The tennis players followed her movements.
