# be experimental Upper Secondary Biology, Chemistry, Physics 2 1. 32 Academics 1 3 Chanyel Back pours hydrochloric acid into a beaker for his for- mative internal assessment. Hydrochloric acid is a hazardous acid, so it is critical to wear safety gloves and glasses when one uses it. 2. Jaipriya Gupta helps Kaili Brumsickle as she opens up the brain of a fatal pig. While dissecting a pig, students were ad- vised to wear safety gloves because of the fluid in the pig’s body. 3. Loukas Kang dissects a fetal pig during his biology class. During the Human Physiology unit, the seniors had a chance to look into a pig to learn about the muscles and the digestive system. 4. Mr. Villarreal demonstrates an experiment of Zinc metal reacting with copper to his MYP Chemistry class. After the students complet- ed the same lab themselves, they were asked to write a formative lab report about the experiment. 5. Do Gyun Shon, Andrew Kim and Angela Kang work as a team to solve problems as they were preparing for an exam in MYP 10 chemistry class. During the class period before each test, Mr. Villareal gave a review day for students to ask any ques- tions. 6. Minji Kim and Emily Kim mash up banana to prepare for a formative lab. Afterwards, students extracted DNA from the mashed up bananas. 7. Harry Cho pours in potassium bromine during his ex- periment on measurement of enthalpy in single replacement reaction. Each student used different metals to measure the enthalpy. 8. Jenni- fer Kim carefully pours magnesium powder into a dish to measure the amount of the powder. Accurate measurements are essential in getting credible results during a data collection. 9. Irene Jeong asks questions to Mr. Smith about the food test during her biochemistry unit. Students carried out a food test for protein, starch, and sugar. 10. Jenny Kim an- swers questions on a worksheet during the moles unit. A calculator can be used during the unit conversions between number of atoms and moles. 11. Gina Park draw a diagram to highlight the life cycle of a virus. In MYP Biology class, students learned about the different parts of plant and animal cells.
