es his guard stance. This form allows the player
to dribble the ball while blocking the oppos-
ing player and results in a safe ball possession.
2. Max Chin and Nirupam Maheshwari take a
break in the middle of the basketball court. Nir-
upam safely hugged the ball as Max tried to take
it away from him. 3. Randy Park dashes along the
side of the court to get ready for the three point-
er from the corner. When holding the basket-
ball with two hands, the player gets to take two
maximum steps before having to shoot the ball.
4. Nazarii Karpinskyi and Shasheesh Manda face
off in a free throw battle. They each got a chance
to shoot basketballs from the free throw line.
5. Nirupam Maheshwari practices chest pass-
ing the basketball. Nirupam launches the ball
from the height of his chest to his teammate’s
chest height. Chest passes are commonly used
in a basketball game because it allows players
to safely pass the ball to one another. 6. Coach
Helen Rader hands out red jerseys to Nazarii
Karpinskyi and Guno Kim. The basketball play-
ers are separated into different groups to play a
game within the basketball team. 7. Jenna Roh
jumps and releases the basketball with her right
hand. Students practiced shooting from different
ranges from the hoop to improve their accuracy.
8. Masata Shimokawa pauses during the drib-
bling exercise with his teammates. As a contin-
uation of the dribbling exercise, students ran
around the gym to improve their control of the
ball and make sure their dribbling was steady
while running.
