Spring Play: But Why Bump Off Barnaby
After Loukas Kang returns from his mysterious vanishing
scene, Brendan Hodge and Lucy Jung question where he
has been. The crew had to create a revolving door for
quick ‘vanishing’ entrances and exits.
1. Mrs. Lee cuts a piece of tape to stick the wireless microphone on Aidan Schneider’s face. Because the cast could not hold normal micro-
phones for the play, they had to tape on wireless microphones. 2. During the curtain call, Lucy Jung and Christine Kim hold hands and wave
for the audience. Even though Lucy and Christine were rival characters in the play, they are actually good friends and stood together for the
curtain call. 3. Jaime Suh and Kaili Brumsickle talk to each other during intermission, so they could share some of their thoughts on the play.
Even though the cast had prepared months for the production, they were still anxious and nervous on the day of the play, especially when more
people than ever before attended the performance. 4. As Lucy Jung explains where she has been, Christine Kim, Jaime Suh, Brendan Hodge,
and Loukas Kang listen to her story. Keahi Brumsickle also tells a story and makes parallels between Lucy’s story and his. 5. Jaime Suh and
Brendan Hodge get shocked at the fact a fly died after drinking the poisoned sherry. The sherry appeared green in the play to symbolize it being
poisoned. 6. Matthias Buesing applies makeup on Loukas Kang to make him appear as an old man. To act as characters of different age, students
made use of various aspects such as costumes and makeup. 7. Cindy Kim, and Taewoo Kim changed the sound and the stage lights during the
performance. This helped make the production successful, because not only do the cast members have to act well, but the tech crew also has
create the proper mood and match cues to build suspense. 8. Brendan Hodge holds Jaime Suh’s hand while telling her to stop talking. Jaime’s
character was innocent yet dumb, which easily made her the crowd’s favorite character.
