During the final rehearsal for the Winter Concert, Hee Jun Kim practices playing his pieces for the last
time. Before the concerts start, musicians come to the auditorium after school to rehearse on the stage for
the last time. 2. Alice Park introduces the Jazz Band during the Winter Concert. Before performing their
pieces, a member from each performance group read a short introduction of the song to the audience.
3. Ms. Lyons helps Andrew Kim during the last practice before the Winter Concert. Since it was the final practice be-
fore performing, students spent extra time to perfect their pieces. 4. Olena Vasyltsova checks her saxophone before
putting her reed on. Saxophone players can make their reeds either harder or softer by altering how much of the tip
of the reed is taken off. 5. Loukas Kang plays the trombone while standing during the performance. Trombone players
must stand up or sit on high stools to avoid causing interference in the course of motion made by moving the slide.
6. Ho Jung Choe checks whether Jaime Suh has an accurately tuned flute. Jazz Band students often check the tune of
their instruments with a tuner before practice. 7. Joonyoung Yoo plays ‘The Five Note Blues’ on his clarinet. During the
Winter Concert, Jazz Band performed ‘The Five Note Blues’ and ‘The King of Swing’.
