Yuito Kimura, Harachi Suzuki, and Kent Takamiya meet together in their exhibition tent. Before they graduate, fifth graders complete an exhibition for a cause to help spread awareness. Yuto, Haruchi, and Kent were planning on spreading awareness of Korean refugees. 2. Trisha Palli, Jinju Hughes, Elly Kang, Tanvi Mavuri, and Ashley Nam prepare for their exhibition. During this time, groups were not assigned and students brainstormed ideas. 3. Keahi Brumsickle looks over Daniel Jungs shoulder as he connects the final circut together to demonstate the presence of an electrical current. The report concluded that lemons do not generate electricity, rather the fruits electrolytes help the energy flow. 4. Trisha Palli and Nirvika Gupta converse with Mrs. Freeman about their understanding of present perfect verbs. The verbs they were practicing were called exhibition verbs and were important to use in their exhibition. 5. Jinju Hughes holds her costruction of the model plane the Wright Brother made back in 1903. This plane partnered with the report Jinju made on the Wright Brothers. 6. Xingshen Liu reads a book from the library. Some of the books that the elementary students checked out were First Day, Miss Information Speaks Her Mind, and Your Dog Might Be A Werewolf, Your Toes Could All Explode. 7. Junseok Kim prepares for the velocity and force experiment by placing his piece of paper on a cup. Students placed the coin on top of the paper, quickly pulled out the paper, and documented if the coin fell into the cup. Fifth graders spent the year learning about immigration, the effects of media, the scientific method, and peaceful solutions to global conflicts. How is your learning similar to the grade five students of 2012? 2012 _GSIS Yearbook-ES_Part 1.indd 27 2013 Tatiana Laroche participated in the fifth grade rocket launch. Students built their own rockets and tested whose rocket would go the highest. Mr. Pownall taught fifth graders. Afterwards, he moved to the Lower Secondary division, where he currently teaches science. How exciting that he might be your teacher next year when you enter sixth grade! Don’t forget to say hello to him. 2014 2015 The Upper Secondary Student Council Association met with fifth graders to promote a campus free from bullying. “Congratulations! You made it! Thank you for an amazing year of collaboration, creativity, inquiry, and most of all fun! May you continue to follow your dreams and trust in God on your journey to middle school and beyond.” - Ms. Adams and Mrs. Freeman 2016 27 4/16/16 10:34 PM = 5 Ashley Nam, Trisha Palli, and Sooyoung Bae spend the afternoon outside with the measuing wheel.
